Dancing with the Rick Brunetto Big Band
As central Ohio’s foremost and finest big band the Rick Brunetto Big Band has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years. This 17-piece orchestra features the music of the 30’s and 40’s swing era on up through the present. On a typical evening you might hear Glenn Miller’s “In The Mood”, “Moonlight Serenade”, or swing to the sounds of Tommy Dorsey’s “Opus One,” the music of Frank Sinatra and Count Basie. The next set you can hear the sounds of Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Motown or Manilow come alive or see the band bring the house down with Gene Krupa’s “Sing Sing Sing.”
In a day and age where small electronic groups have all but replaced 17 piece bands, this group has seemingly achieved the impossible. For over 25 years they have maintained a steady engagement, appearing in various clubs and hotels in the Columbus area. Seventeen piece bands are virtually unheard of in cocktail lounges, but this bands unique situation has enjoyed enormous success and support from the many people who come every week to listen and dance to the Big Band sound.
A few years ago they performed at Caesar’s Palace in Atlantic City with Deana Martin.
Currently the Rick Brunetto Big Band appears every Thursday night at the 94th Aero Squadron where they have been the house band for over 27 years.
