Marching Band Competition

High School Marching BANDS are invited to enter the parade. There will be an adjudication process based on marching precision and musical performance.  Immediately following the parade  all High School Marching Bands will perform once again at the Columbus Italian Festival’s main stage to determine the Best in Show!

Band Information

The BEST IN SHOW competition for the High School Marching Bands begins once the parade steps off at 1 p.m. and competition ends after the last performance at Carfagna Stage at the Columbus Italian Festival.  Only one High School Marching Band will be awarded a Columbus Italian Parade Championship Trophy!

All High School Marching Bands will be stopped on High Street for a stationary performance of up to five minutes.  You may face either East or West, or both.  It will be up to the Band Director to make that sure that the performance stays under five minutes.

When the bands stop to perform, the whole parade will stop in place.

At the end of the parade route, all marching bands will be directed to the Carfagna Stage (big tent) for one final song performance, which will begin tentatively at 2:00 PM.

Last year’s band competition winner, Johnathan Alder High School Marching Band, will be guest performing in the parade and on stage as Reigning Champions, not as competitors.  This year’s Champion will have that right for next year.

Dancers and/or Flag Corp of each school are also invited to march too.  Bring the teams too!  (Bands:  Your points start scoring the minute you walk off the bus and go until you walk off the stage.)
